Creating Technology-Based Projects for Adult Basic Education
This workshop will begin with the facilitator leading a review of the kinds of free resources that are available online. In the second part of the workshop, the facilitator will present sample projects that teachers from around the country have crafted with their students using easily accessible technology (e.g., PowerPoint, voice recording, video editing, blogging, Google maps, etc.). During the third, and longest, part of the workshop, groups of computers will be set up as workstations, each dedicated to creating a different type of technology-based project. Working at their own pace, participants will have the opportunity to try the projects they are most interested in. During this time, the facilitator will provide technical support and will help participants think through the benefits and drawbacks of technology-based projects. The teaching strategies presented support EFF standards for Lifelong Learning>>Use Information and Communications Technology, Learn Through Research and Take Responsibility for Learning.
