“I enjoy meeting other people like me, who have difficulty reading and writing English… what I really like, is that I am able to participate without embarrassment, because I don’t read and write well. The people listen to what I have to say.”

News!

We are now Literacy New Jersey!

We are very excited to announce that Literacy Volunteers of New Jersey has merged with six adult literacy programs to become one unified organization. As of February 2014, we are Literacy New Jersey.

We wholeheartedly believe that this merger of seven strong groups will enhance our ability to thrive and fulfill our mission in the years to come. We look forward to increased effectiveness, expanded capacity, greater financial strength, and the opportunity for more influential leadership as we advocate for and educate about adult literacy, together.

We are very grateful to everyone whose support made the creation of our new organization possible, with special thanks to: the Community Foundation for NJ, Pro Bono Partnership, Lowenstein Sandler LLP, the SeaChange-Lodestar Fund for Nonprofit Collaboration, the Karma Foundation, and The Support Center for Nonprofits.
